Transition to Work
Sunnyfield’s TTW Program is also about transition to young adulthood
Individually Tailored Programs
Sunnyfield’s Transition to Work Program is not only about transition to work but also transition to young adulthood. The program is individually tailored to incorporate work focused skills, life skills and team building exercises to increase self esteem and a sense of wellbeing in preparation for a working future. Sunnyfield Transition to Work Program is offered at three locations across Sydney: Allambie Heights, Chatswood and St Marys.
Sunnyfield offers participants the opportunity to explore and experience, through work experience placements, a variety of career options. Open employment placements are negotiated with employers in a variety of industries such as Retail, Hospitality or Business Administration. Sunnyfield has well established links with employers in a variety of industries. Work experience placements are carefully chosen to ensure that each participant experiences real work tasks, receives on the job training and the support that they need.
Work experience is also offered in a variety of job roles within our own business services including general assembly, mailing services, packaging retail products, sheet metal fabrication, electrical control gear, and lighting assembly work.
In addition to on the job placements, TTW participants also undergo in-house training in a Certificate 1 WorkSkills for Life program, to improve work and independence skills, access a wide range of activities in the local community and make new friends. This program covers topics such as Occupational Health and Safety, Communication, Money Management and Job Seeking Skills. We also provide additional support in travel training to encourage independent use of public transport, community travel options or taxis.
Sunnyfield TTW Program provides a minimum of 18 hours of support per week including two days of open/supported employment work experience and one day of in-house work skills training. After initial assessment period, hours of support may increase and include a mix of supported employment, open employment and vocational training. There is no daily fee for service, however participants may be asked to contribute to the cost of social activities and some vocational courses.
