Volunteers

It doesn't matter how much or how little time you have to give there will be something to suit you at Sunnyfield. With a diverse geographical footprint, Sunnyfield has a range of positions across our services where you will be sure to find an opportunity that suits your lifestyle and interests.

“Being a volunteer at Sunnyfield is one of the most rewarding and satisfying things I have ever done.  It makes me realise how fortunate I am and how I can make a difference to someone’s life.  I recommend for everyone to give their time as a volunteer as I have never looked back and in fact would love to do more.”

- Denise Knowles, Sunnyfield receptionist and volunteer

Volunteering is good for you and the community

Volunteering with Sunnyfield has many positive benefits beyond your contribution to the community and donating your time and talent to a good cause. Some examples include:

  • Sharing existing skills or developing new ones
  • Enhancing career opportunities and building up work experience
  • Meeting new people
  • Experiencing new challenges

As a volunteer you are supported with orientation and induction, on-going training, supervision, support and debriefing, insurance cover and references on request. Most of all, volunteering is personally satisfying and a lot of fun. Whatever your motivation, you can be sure that your efforts will make a real difference!

Types of Volunteer positions

Event Volunteering: Sunnyfield hosts a number of events and requires the assistance of volunteers to help our dedicated team ensure that the event runs smoothly and efficiently.  In some cases this may be a fundraising event.

Peer Support Program: Develop a relationship with a person we support by assisting them in their hobbies i.e. attending local football games, participating in swimming and fitness activities, going out for coffee or lunch – the opportunities are endless.

Maintenance: Do you like undertaking renovations? Fixing things up? Giving your surroundings a facelift? Our small maintenance team of 3 could do with your help.

Accommodation Services Volunteer: In this area, Volunteers support residents to experience different activities and interests within their chosen Housing and Support environment.

Day Options Volunteer: Assist the people we support with activities such as reading, computer programs, exercise, gardening, cooking, music, art and craft, swimming, movies, shopping and many more.

Supported Employment Service Volunteers: Support employees in performing their work, encouraging positive work and social related behaviour, and clerical administrative tasks.

Administration: If you’re an organised person who enjoys administrative tasks, our office based staff often need help with jobs such as database entry, filing, telephone calls and in some cases, assisting in the set up of processes.

These are just some of the opportunities available and is in no way an exhaustive list of what volunteering roles are available.
